April 8, 2011. An evening with California State Controller John Chiang. Our first event of 2011 was held at Il Fornaio Restaurant in Irvine. Forty-four members and friends gathered to hear John speak about the State's budget woes while enjoying a little wine and some delicious appetizers. Among the topics covered were the status of the Governor's efforts to allow the people of California to decide whether to tax themselves to reduce the deficit, elimination of waste, fraud and abuse in government, how the Controller pays the State's bills when they exceed funds available to pay them, and the role of redevelopment agencies in State finance. John Chiang is a truly remarkable and courageous public servant who is not afraid to speak the truth and stand up to those unwilling to embrace it--even the former Governator!

October 22, 2010. President Obama & Senator Boxer Victory Fund Luncheon, University of Southern California, Tutor Campus Center. Fourteen members of DemOCPac were in attendance at this fabulous event. Before lunch for 250, we were treated to a forty-five minute concert by Stevie Wonder who was remarkable. Barbara Boxer then took the stage and gave us an spirited talk about the stark choice in front of voters in November. Then, what we all were waiting for...Barack, in the flesh. As always, his words were inspiring and direct--we can't go back and we won't let the Republicans take us back--there is still a lot to be done and we need Senator Boxer back in the Senate to keep us moving forward.

October 1. 2010. Barbara Boxer in Laguna Niguel. It was a glorious day in Laguna Niguel at the spectacular home of Sarah and Joe Kiani where members of DemOC PAC were priviledged to be part of an exciting fundraiser for Barbara Boxer. 200 people attended and over $250,000 was raised. DemOCPac contributed $2,500 to the event. We were treated to a truly inspirational speech by Vice President Joe Biden who reminded us why this election is so important. It was very encouraging to know that so many people in Orange County care so deeply about our future.
July 17, 2010. Barbara Boxer & Jackson Browne presented by The Laguna Beach Democratic Club & DemOC PAC. When we said you should not miss this event, we were not kidding. Glorious weather, a spectacular setting, our gracious hosts Leticia Apalategui and Mark Christy, and star power. What could be better? Barbara Boxer was inspirational and reminded us that we cannot take her incredible leadership for granted. Jackson Browne sang for over an hour--ballads, old and new--his voice more beautiful than ever. Lots of money was raised for the Boxer campaign, including $10,000 from an impromptu live aution of two Hobie surfboards. Thanks to Mark and Leticia for their hospitality and to everyone who participated in this fabulous event!

July 7, 2011. An Evening with Dean Erwin Chemerinsky. UCI School of Law Dean Chemerinsky gave us his invaluable insights on the United States Supreme Court, an analysis of this session’s rulings and his prognosis for the future. How lucky are we to have one of the premier constitutional scholars in the world in our presence!
September 13, 2011. 2011 Annual Meeting. New bylaws, election of officers and an update on where we have been in 2011 and where we are going in 2012. As always, we were well treated at Crystal Jade, our home away from home.
